Accessories for film analysis

Here you`ll find an overview of the available accessories for the film analysis device. The accessories are not strictly required for operation, but they make the measurements more reproducible and support efficient use in everyday laboratory work

Manual impregnation device

For resin formulation trials, a simple and reproducible manual resin application is useful. Using smooth rollers or wire-wound rods, and by applying multiple rollers in succession, the desired level of resin application can be adjusted.

The impregnating device has a resin application width of 350 mm. Other dimensions and the design of the rollers can be customized upon request.

Sample punch with strip steel cut

The sample punch is delivered with the film analysis device.

Together with the included strip steel cutting tool, the samples required for measurement are precisely punched out.

If the steel rule die is worn, it can be ordered as a spare part

Sample support for low basis weights

When using the sample support with the film analysis device, the reproducibility of measurements of overlay and adhesive films with low basis weight is improved.

Resin-impregnated samples with a paper or nonwoven weight of < 40 g/m² cannot always be measured reproducibly using the standard sample holder. The reason is varying deformation of the sample during the measurement process. This deformation leads to non-reproducible measurement results.

The auxiliary device (sample support) prevents these deformations. It consists of two pairs of wires with PTFE tubes. The PTFE tubes reliably prevent the samples from sticking.

Additional heating unit

With the 2.0 kW additional heating unit, the heating rate can be increased from approximately 0.25 °C/s to around 0.5 °C/s.

A temperature curve is often used to simulate the rising core temperature during HPL or particleboard production.

Bath fluid silicone oil Typ350

The bath fluid for the film analysis device is crucial for the accuracy and comparability of measurements across different devices.

The bath fluid consists of three different silicone oils. The mixture is adjusted by us at 140°C to achieve a uniform viscosity. This ensures reproducible measurements over many years.

It is therefore important to use our bath fluid “Silicone Oil Type 350 for Film Analysis.” Due to losses on the measured samples, the fill level must be regularly checked and replenished as needed.

The oil should be replaced at least every two years (or every year when measuring phenolic resin at test temperatures above 140°C). For very frequent measurements (> 20 measurements per day), a significant amount of oil remains on the samples, so regular replenishing is sufficient to maintain the silicone oil. The silicone oil is not classified as a hazardous substance.
